A family found themselves on the street due to a violent fire which ravaged their home during the night from Sunday to Monday in a residential area of Saint-François, in Laval.
The fire started around 3:30 a.m. outside a single-family home located on rue des Amandiers, near rue des Magnolias.
The flames quickly spread to the second floor before reaching the two terraced houses, forcing firefighters to sound a third alarm.
The three families were evacuated and sheltered in a Société de transport de Laval (STL) bus, said a spokesperson for the Laval Fire Safety Service.
If no one among the occupants was injured, the residents of the house where the fire started will not be able to return to their homes, even if the fire has been brought under control by the firefighters.
This is because the damage caused to the three residences, particularly the one where the fire started, is significant, amounting to several thousand dollars, it was added.
