“Writing his memoir is, by far, the most personal project I have ever undertaken. I hope that readers will receive it with the greatest kindness and I pray that it offers new perspectives and invites people to greater compassion – for themselves and for others”, she confided to our American colleagues.
A work in which Kerry Washington recounts in particular how she discovered in 2018 that she was not her father’s biological daughter… At 41, the African-American actress indeed learned that her parents had chosen to use an anonymous sperm donor to conceive their child following fertility problems.

“I now know my story”
“When I got that information, I was like, ‘Oh. I know my story now.'”, said the star, who remembered being relieved when she heard the news. And for good reason, the unforgettable interpreter of Olive Pope made it known that she had long felt that her parents were hiding things from her: “I didn’t know what my story was, but I was playing the supporting character in their story”she confided.
A discovery about her father that she obviously addresses in her autobiographical book which will be released on Tuesday September 26, 2023.
