The mass unleashed passions
The wandering in popemobile lasted a half hour. Then, those who did not have their place for the mass at the Vélodrome stadium were able to follow it on a giant screen. 60,000 faithful were able to attend inside the stadium. An unusual setting more accustomed to supporters’ songs than religious songs. But at the exit, the ceremony unleashed passions. “It’s another atmosphere but it’s just as solemn and exciting“, says one man.
