Moneris’ systems for processing debit and credit card transactions appear to have suffered a technical problem on Saturday, causing a widespread outage across Canada.
This is what many internet people have reported on X (formerly Twitter). In addition, the company’s website does not work either, as the QMI Agency noted.
However, the company has still not given any explanations to its customers who seem to be in limbo.
“Come on @Moneris give us some info on why you’re down. Was it a hack? We have businesses to manage and your lack of transparency is worrying. This is exactly why we cannot become a cashless society,” said @Jordan RPALPAL in a tweet.
For its part, Interac confirmed to TVA Nouvelles that all its services were working on Saturday, despite the fact that more than 2,000 people reported an outage on the Downdetector site.
