King Charles III concluded his three-day state visit to Bordeaux (Gironde) on Friday September 22 by visiting Château Smith Haut Laffite, an organic wine estate. His trip was placed under the sign of the environment.
Barely out of his car, King Charles III is welcomed like a rock star in Bordeaux (Gironde). With his wife Queen Camilla, they began their visit with a walkabout. Charles III then went to the town hall. With the mayor, he symbolically planted a tree. The king wanted to dedicate his Bordeaux stopover to defending the environment.
Bordeaux, a city of English expatriates
The royal couple then took the tram to Place de la Bourse, where a festival was being organized to celebrate Franco-British friendship. Bordeaux is the most English of French cities, many British expatriates live in the region. The king ended his visit by visiting an organic vineyard, Château Smith Haut Lafitte. Charles III was even able to pet the horse used to weed the vines.
