My father and my mother died. My two sisters too”. The evening of the disaster, Yassine and his family were at home. They had dinner around 9:30 p.m. Later, around 11 p.m., Yassine stayed to watch a film in the living room, his parents and sisters went to bed. “It happened. I screamed and went to see them… I saw that the ceiling had fallen on them” says the young man, resident of Tinzert, a small village located in the Moroccan region of the High Atlas.

“We buried them that same morning”

I went out through the roof of my cousin’s house. There was no more electricity or network. We had no way of calling people. We sat in front of the entrance until people arrived. Around 8:30 a.m., 9 a.m., people were able to take them out. We buried them that same morning. It’s been a dark day” added Yassine who, every evening, “afraid of it happening again”.

At the time of the disaster, he was wearing the Raja Casablanca jersey of which he is a fan. Anas Al Jaafari, president of the Green Nest association bringing together Raja supporters, came to see him. He promised to help her: “The Raja wants to take care of you. In the center, there are lots of young people. There are a lot of them there studying. And there are also Rajaouis members who want to give you a monthly grant, these are not just empty words. The day you are ready to come to Casa, you will come and settle in” Al Jaafari told him.
