This story is inspired by the novel Liebes Kind (2019) by Romy Haussmann. In 2006, the writer discovered, like millions of viewers, a terrible news item that hit the headlines : the chilling story of Natasha Kampusch, a young Austrian girl kept captive from the age of 10 to 18 in a basement by Wolfgang Přiklopil. In an interview with Netflix, she said she had been “upset” by Natascha’s television interview with Günther Jauch in 2006, shortly after her escape.

Did you know ? Natascha Kampusch’s story gave rise to a book and a film released in 2013, 3096 days.

Furthermore, this novel also draws its inspiration from another case of child confinement, that of Elisabeth Fritzl. At 42, Elisabeth admitted to having been sequestered in a room without windows and raped by her father for 24 yearsbetween 1984 and 2008. During her captivity, she gave birth to seven childrenall from rapes.
