The two 17-year-old minors suspected of having violently attacked a 19-year-old young man on Wednesday September 13 in Saint-Martin-d’Hères near Grenoble (Isère) were indicted on Friday September 15 for “violent theft with incapacity for work for more than eight days”, the Grenoble public prosecutor’s office told franceinfo.
The prosecution had requested their placement in pre-trial detention, but the requisitions were not followed by the judge of freedoms, who placed one of the suspects under simple judicial supervision and the other was placed in an educational placement establishment. The prosecution specifies that he will appeal his two placements under judicial supervision. Investigation continues to identify and arrest a third suspect.
The victim’s state of health “remains serious”
According to the Grenoble prosecutor, the victim was beaten by three individuals. His vital prognosis is no longer in jeopardy “but his state of health remains serious”nevertheless specifies the prosecutor who adds that the victim has not yet been heard.
The young man attacked is “unknown to the police and justice services”, indicates the Grenoble deputy prosecutor. This is a student who recently moved to the city. The two indicted suspects of Romanian nationality were arrested during the night from Wednesday to Thursday around 2:30 a.m. according to the prosecution.
