Taxing refiners’ “excessive profits” is “on the table”

“At this stage”the fact of taxing “excessive profits” refiners “is on the table”confirmed Thomas Cazenave. “We are not ruling out any response and this may be one of them when the time comes.”

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire, questioned Thursday September 14 about the “high margins” refining, a sector dominated by TotalEnergies in France, ensuring that it would take “the necessary decisions”.
