“A lot”, Blue Gold | The duty

The Or Bleu project seals the collaboration between two veteran Montreal DJs and composers, Charles Cozy and Fruits. Coming from the rap scene, their musical horizons go far beyond the framework and tempo of the genre, as they demonstrate on A lota first album which has all the appearance of a mixtape luxury show on which they invite an impressive number of singers and MCs, including FouKi and Imposs (Wowowoh), KNLO and Eman (Rich poor) or the Ontario R&B singer and songwriter falcxne, on the flowing and stripped down Kiss You Right. If the productions of A lot are all of very high quality, the duo has difficulty presenting an aesthetically coherent album as it wanders from one genre to another, moving from neo-funk to What are vibes? (with LaF and Samaether) opening to the simili-Kaytranada house-funk of You Can Have It All (with Mike Clay and Kallitechnis). Let’s listen to the two rap gems again and again, Cassius Clay with bilingual New Yorker Gabe Nandez and the rough Appetizerswith Lary Kidd.
