Cinema around the world has its eyes on Hollywood since the tragic accident on the set of Rust and which remains unexplained for the moment. On October 21, Alec Baldwin was shooting a scene from his next western when he shoots his gun and accidentally kills cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The latter is then rushed to the hospital in New Mexico, just like her colleague Joel Souza, the director, injured in the shoulder but will recover. Hit in the abdomen, this 42-year-old mother dies from her injuries, leaving behind her husband Matthew and their 9-year-old son Andros.
Upset by this tragedy, Alec Baldwin offered his condolences to the family, in a tweet. The widower also spoke publicly and said he supported the 63-year-old comedian, who decided to take a career break after the tragedy. Recently, other members of Halyna Hutchins’ family spoke up.
Asked by the British newspaper The Sun, Anatoly Androsovych, the father of the deceased said he was not angry with Alec Baldwin but with the team of gunsmiths in the film. “We still can’t believe that Halyna is dead and her mother is losing her mind, due to grief. But I don’t hold Alec Baldwin responsible – it’s the responsibility of the professionals who handle the guns,” he confided.
The suspicions are also turned towards the assistant director and the young person in charge of the armory. The former soldier said his wife and daughter Svetlana should soon join him in the United States to console Matthew, Halyna Hutchins’ husband and Andros, her son. “He was hit very hard, he is lost without his mother. Matt will decide if legal action will be taken.”, said the father of the victim.
