a big step towards the vaccine

A French laboratory based in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) has been working on a therapeutic vaccine against lung cancer for almost ten years. It is made in the traditional way, from proteins. To benefit from this vaccine, the patient must be in recurrence and have already received chemotherapy and immunotherapy. We then take a blood test to check that it belongs to the immune group called HLA-A2, around 45% of cases. We can then vaccinate him.

Coming to market in 2027

The patient’s life span increases on average from seven to eleven months, with much fewer side effects than chemotherapy. Very interesting efficiency. Promising clinical trials of therapeutic vaccines are also being studied in skin, pancreatic and ovarian cancers. After a final study, the therapeutic vaccine against lung cancer should be put on the market in 2027.
