Liberal MP Marwah Rizqy says she is “torn” over the leadership of her party, although she wants to prioritize her family above all else.
“I’m definitely torn. I won’t lie to you, it bothers me. There’s a part of me that feels ready. I always want to get started. Let’s see, I’m a runner. It sure tempts me,” says the MP during a press scrum at the National Assembly.
“But I have to remind myself of order,” she adds for nuance.
It’s no secret that Marwah Rizqy wants to have a second child. She has already indicated several times that this is her priority.
However, it seems that several liberals would like to see Mme Rizqy is launching to succeed Dominique Anglade.
After thinking about it, MPs André Fortin and Monsef Derraji as well as the interim leader, Marc Tanguay, have all already indicated that they are giving up running for the leadership of the Liberal Party of Quebec (PLQ).
Officially, there are no candidates on the starting line. The MP for Marguerite-Bourgeoys, Frédéric Beauchemin, and the federal Liberal MP Joël Lightbound are considering this.
The PLQ held its pre-sessional caucus last week. The absence of Marwah Rizqy at this event was noted, but the interim leader did not wish to comment on it.
