The album A piece of Sicre is a project that “was particularly close to heart” to Francis Cabrel: compose a song as a hymn to his city, to his region. HASBeyond the musical aspect, the singer painted the cover, storyboarded the clip and produced it. This 45 T vinyl is a numbered collector, produced for pre-order and available on October 13, 2023. Published independently, it is published by Baboo Music, the small label that the singer founded with his family, in his village of Astaffort (47), reports the newspaper South West who announced the release of the opus.
Toulouse, the city of Cabrel’s “first songs”
This single is titled A piece of Sicre in reference to Claude Sicre, one of the pioneers of the defense and recognition of Occitan culture, also known as a member of the Fabulous Trobadors. It is “uA piece of Sicre, therefore, of positivity, kindness, humor, erudition, all that in your black coffee… A Toulouse day begins. It is a tribute to this important city for me. Between rue Caraman and rue Matabiau, I sang and recorded my first songs there”, specifies the singer on the pre-order site of the album.
“Quantity of characters could and should have appeared in the chorus but for lack of space, I thank them here and in particular Richard and Daniel Seff, Jean-Pierre Mader, Michel Art Mengo, Émile, Images and Gold combined, all those who took Toulouse song to the top behind the great Claude whom everyone pursues”, he adds again.
