The project to expand the Maisonneuve-Rosemont hospital dates back to 2012, when Liberal Yves Bolduc was Minister of Health. The modernization was confirmed in 2018 by Liberal Health Minister Gaétan Barrette. Its cost was then estimated at nearly $1.8 billion.
