Christiane Taubira is considering running for the presidential election. The former Keeper of the Seals of François Hollande is giving himself a month to bring together all the forces of the left.
Icon of the left for some, hated by others, Christine Taubira decides to speak in a video posted at the end of the morning on her social networks. Deploring the deadlock in which the left finds itself, she announces her decision for the next presidential election. “I envisage”, said the former Minister of Justice, without saying more about a possible participation in the Popular Primary. Christiane Taubira only specifies that she will meet in mid-January.
For Anne Hidalgo, this declaration further supports the idea of a Primary preceded by televised debates. On the side of Arnaud Montebourg, his entourage let it be known that this is a good path towards a common candidacy from the left. But Christiane Taubira’s statement is not to the taste of some environmentalists. Yannick Jadot appears very annoyed against this possible new candidacy on the left: “I have had a little enough,” he said, “of these candidacies which potentially add up to one another. We are told that to fight the too large number of candidates, more candidates are needed. […] You still have to dare to do it four months before the presidential election. “ Far from clarifying the situation on the left, the possible candidacy of Christiane Taubira for the moment brings more confusion.
