In Rennes, citizens have mobilized to restore greenery in the middle of their neighborhood. A young entrepreneur is at the origin of the project. He mobilized all the inhabitants, who played the game.
At the foot of the towers of the Blosne district in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine) is an unusual site: over 200 square meters, a dense forest of 1,300 trees must see the light of day. They will be planted by the little hands of the inhabitants. Jérôme Mbouta and Emmanuelle Girard are almost neighbors, but do not know each other. They came to green their place of life. “The summer is hot, we stay there sometimes, (…) with that, we will be better”, says Jérôme.
This shared garden project is citizen, but above all environmental. With his company, Xavier Dommanges has already reforested three plots of this type, to refresh urban areas, restore natural spaces and capture CO2. “We know that climate change is taking place, are the maximums going to be higher, are the average temperatures? We don’t really know. (…) The best thing that can be done to make the territory resilient, it is to put back small ecosystems “, confides the latter. This micro-forest project is inspired by a Japanese method, the Miyawaki method.
