(Saint-Stanislas-De-Kostka) A man reported missing in the Lake Saint-François sector, in Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka, in Montérégie, was found unresponsive by boaters on Monday afternoon.
Emergency services were notified around 10 a.m. that a personal watercraft had been found adrift on the lake. The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) immediately took steps to try to determine if a person was missing in the area.
Following these steps, the SQ found that a man in his twenties was indeed missing in this area.
A search has been launched to find the man.
Around 2:30 p.m., boaters spotted an unresponsive person. The SQ confirmed that it was the missing 29-year-old man. He was taken to hospital where he was confirmed dead.
It is not known if he was wearing a life jacket.
SQ investigators were dispatched to the scene to better understand the causes and circumstances surrounding this event.
