Christophe by day, Pépita by night

Christophe by day …

You pass his van in the streets of Forges les Eaux. We can recognize it, an all-white sideboard flanked by a shuttering for the awning. Because 5 weeks in the year, Christopher empties the truck of his tools to transform it into a motorhome. The rest of the time, it is his working tool. He is an upholsterer. He has fun re-typing the furniture, giving it a makeover, bringing it back to life. And if you pity your old, threadbare Voltaire, Christopher will adorn him with a beautiful new fabric. It is in its strings. That’s for the day. Evening is quite another thing! After a certain time on certain days, don’t call him Christophe anymore.

Pepita at night!

It started as a joke, this story. A small informal show, between friends, Christophe doing the zouave, made up as a woman. A long red velvet dress, fishnet stockings, a pretty ostentatious hairstyle, a little makeup … and Christophe’s name is Pépita. We make a few people laugh at first. Then we get caught up in the game. A cabaret show is on, he sings Dalida, we call him Pépita. Today, it is to the point that some do not even know his first name in the civil! Even when Christophe is Christophe, we call him Pépita.
