Construction holidays begin in the rain in southern Quebec. Showers and a few thunderstorms will persist until late Friday afternoon.
A total of 30 to 50 millimeters of rain is forecast for the south of the province until Saturday. Quantities could exceed 50 millimeters locally under thunderstorms in Estrie, Montreal, Lanaudière and the Laurentians.
A weather alert has been issued for the Gatineau region, where 30 to 50 millimeters of precipitation is expected.
These waterspouts could cause flash flooding and water accumulation on the roads. Flooding is possible in places in the lowlands, advises Environment Canada.
