The SPVQ confirms that the body discovered on Monday is that of a missing woman

The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) confirms that the body discovered Monday evening near the Saint-Grégoire-de-Montmorency cemetery, in the Beauport sector, is that of Isabelle Fortier, 24 years old.

Mme Fortier had been missing since July 15, but was last seen a few days earlier.

A command post had been erected in the Saint-Roch district of Quebec, near where the lady had been seen for the last time. The SPVQ then had reason to fear for its safety.

The SPVQ Search and Rescue Unit and members of the Quebec Association of Search and Rescue Volunteers conducted searches and visited the Beauport area on Monday. Around 5 p.m., they made the macabre discovery.

Investigators as well as the Forensic Identification Unit went to the scene, in assistance to the Coroner’s Office, and were then able to confirm that it was the missing woman.
