Singer Billie Eilish unveiled the music video for her ballad on Thursday What Was I Made For?taken from the soundtrack of the film Barbie.
Filmed in one sequence, the clip features the popular singer sorting through a collection of Barbie clothes inspired by outfits she herself has worn.
“In a car ride, I was an ideal/I looked so alive, turns out I’m not real/Just a thing you paid for,” she sings soberly accompanied of a piano.
On Instagram, Billie Eilish says she was approached by the director of the film Barbie, Greta Gerwig, last January. “To be honest, it seems like it came at a time when I really needed it,” she wrote.
The film’s soundtrack, slated for theatrical release on July 31, features several big names in pop, including Dua Lipa, Nick Minaj, Lizzo and Charli XCX.
