The world of television is in mourning… This Friday, July 7, 2023, Marie-Sophie Lacarrau announced the death of the great television director Gilles Amado. “We learned of the disappearance of Gilles Amado, star director here at TF1 for thirty years. He will have married kings and princesses, buried the greatest and celebrated birthdays that have marked history. Also to his credit, more than twenty July 14 and the longest program was for the transition to the year 2000: 26 hours of live “, confided the journalist at the end of the newspaper of 13 Hours of TF1.
The disappearance of the filmmaker has left a void in the entertainment industry, but also in the hearts of many colleagues and admirers. Among them, the famous animator Jean-Pierre Foucault who immediately took over his Twitter account to pay a vibrant tribute to the talented artist. “He had the look, the eye of the director. We owe him our most beautiful TV shows of the 1980s/1990s. Gilles Amado left to join some of the artists he had sublimated, and who will make him a hedge of honor in paradise. Thank you for these twenty years of complicity”, he wrote on July 6.
