The family has been welcoming young Ukrainians for 19 years as part of the “Children of Chernobyl” association. This summer, about fifty children are welcomed in the region. After three days of traveling by bus and 2,100 kilometers covered, the emotion is very present. Many families had not seen their favorite child for three years.
Breathe cleaner air
Since 1993, the association has welcomed every summer children from the region contaminated by the explosion of the nuclear power plant. The objective: to get the children out of this area to breathe cleaner air. But, since the beginning of the war, these children accumulate a double punishment. The association also sends 10,000 euros in food aid every two months to Ukraine.
