The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macronot, was visiting Budapest (Hungary). The tenant of the Elysee Palace was received by the Hungarian President, Viktor Orban, a political opponent, but a European partner. Visiting Budapest, before taking the presidency of the European Union in January, Emmanuel Macron met Viktor Orban. The President of the Republic has, throughout the day, maintained his guideline by repeating thatOrban was a political opponent, but a European partner. Anne Bourse adds that the two heads of state have not left the lookdau during the Monday evening press conference.
If the meeting between the two men was courteous, Emmanuel Macron met the Hungarian opposition. Disagreements still remain between Macron and Orban, in terms of corruption, independence justice and medias, or from gay rights. This is not without consequences since Hungary will not benefit from the European recovery plan. Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed his wish to work with Hungary, which he considers an important partner.
