Heat wave | A cold front expected on Friday

(Toronto) A cold front crossing Quebec and Ontario should bring relief Friday after an intense heat wave lasting several days.

Environment Canada meteorologist Steven Flisfeder says the cold front is expected to bring temperatures back to near normal over the next few days.

Parts of Quebec, from Haute-Gatineau to Chibougamau, as well as Ontario, were the subject of a severe thunderstorm watch on Thursday, with the weather agency warning of the presence of scattered thunderstorms and the possibility of strong winds.

Regions farther east will have to wait for respite as parts of Atlantic Canada, from New Brunswick to Nova Scotia, remain under heat warnings that are expected to continue Friday and last through the weekend. in certain sectors.

The heat event could also last longer in British Columbia, where warnings remain for the northern interior regions on the central coast and in the Fraser Canyon region east of Vancouver, where maximum temperatures between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius are expected until Sunday.

Air quality warnings are in effect for northern parts of British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec due to wildfires.
