A luxurious house, with wads of cash, weapons and a helicopter in the garden. Russian media broadcast, on Wednesday July 5, images of the search of the residence of the leader of the paramilitary group Wagner, Evguéni Prigojine, carried out in Saint Petersburg during his attempted armed rebellion at the end of June. These images, obviously taken by the police, were suddenly published in several Russian public and private media.

During the search, again according to these images, the investigators also discovered gold bars but also several passports with different names and a cupboard full of wigs to make up. While Wagner’s mercenaries are regularly accused of abuse, the Fontanka site, based in Saint Petersburg, also publishes a photo of severed heads hung on a wall.

Wagner’s leader “in St. Petersburg”

This same site also broadcasts a photo showing a huge mass arranged in a room of the house of Evguéni Prigojine and whose metal head bears the message “In case of important negotiations”. The “mace” is one of the symbols of the Wagner group, which boasts of using this weapon to savagely execute or torture its enemies.

Fifteen days after their aborted march to Moscow, the whereabouts of Evgueni Prigojine and the remaining troops of the Wagner group are still unknown. While they seemed to have found a base in Belarus, dictator Alexander Lukashenko said Thursday that Yevgeny Prigojine was not on Belarusian territory but was “in St. Petersburg”. And, “as far as I know, the fighters [de Wagner] are in their camps”he added, quoted by the state agency Belta, suggesting that the mercenaries are still in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
