St. Michael | Two men arrested for trying to set truck on fire

(Montreal) A 15-year-old teenager and a 22-year-old young man were arrested by police late Tuesday night in northeastern Montreal after failing to set fire to a truck parked in a field. shopping mall in the Saint-Michel district.


The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reported at daybreak that the vehicle had apparently not been damaged. It nevertheless had to be towed to be examined by investigators from the SPVM arson squad.

It was a phone call made around 4 a.m. to the 911 emergency center that informed the police that an arson attempt had just occurred on the property located on Jean-Rivard Street. When they arrived at the scene, the police saw two young suspects in a car and arrested them before taking them to an SPVM investigation center.

According to the police, one of the two suspects tried in vain to set fire to the truck. At the scene, a can of gasoline and an incendiary object were found.

The adjacent property was not damaged.
