Monday, July 3, the emergencies are on strike. Practitioners are calling for better working conditions and measures to make public hospitals more attractive.
Doctors on strike, but at work, like in Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin). So to be heard in the emergency room, Monday July 3, they decided to bring a new patient into their service only if a consultation box is free. Their goal is to stop seeing patients waiting in the hallways on stretchers. Dr. Audrey Emeric, emergency physician, notes that “supervision is not very good” and “the wait is very long”.
Make the hospital more attractive
Monday, July 3, except in a life-threatening emergency, the patients therefore waited in ambulances and fire trucks. According to the doctors, it will be daily if the public hospital cannot recruit. Dr Marc Noizet, the head of emergencies and the SAMU of Mulhouse, explains: “Today, the public hospital no longer attracts. On the contrary, it scares away. […] Professionals burn out and end up leaving to have better working conditions or better pay.”
This year, 10,846 positions for hospital practitioners were vacant, only 3,364 candidates applied. The unions are asking for measures to make the hospital more attractive. The strike will continue on Tuesday July 4.
