Renowned film critic Marc-André Lussier died on Friday at the age of 63, the daily confirmed on Monday. The Presswhere the journalist worked for 45 years.
The journalist was recovering from recent heart surgery, the Montreal media reported, in mourning for his greatest film critic of the past two decades. Mr. Lussier was the longest-serving employee of The Presswhere he cut his teeth in 1978, in the advertising department.
A great lover of the arts, he signed his first articles for the daily from 1995. The years that followed allowed him to meet hundreds of filmmakers, actors and actresses in addition to brushing the red carpets of multiple events celebrating the seventh art. He had also taken part last May at the Cannes Film Festival, of which he had become a regular.
