Wimbledon | “I don’t need anyone to motivate me”, assures Novak Djokovic

(Wimbledon) Novak Djokovic approaches Wimbledon as a big favorite and he assured on Saturday two days before the start of the tournament where he will try to equal the absolute record of 24 Grand Slam titles that he “needs no one” for the motivate.

“I don’t need to have a Carlos [Alcaraz] opposite or anyone to find the extra motivation when I arrive at a Grand Slam tournament because I know I have to win seven games to clinch the title, ”said the Serb.

“So whoever is on the other side of the net, it doesn’t change anything for me. I have to do the right thing,” he added.

At 36, Djokovic has held since Roland-Garros, which he won for the third time in June, the record of 23 Grand Slam titles for men. But the absolute record is still held by Australian Margaret Court who has 24 to her name.

In the absence of Rafael Nadal, who retired from the season due to a hip injury that emerged at the Australian Open in January, world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz once again emerges as Djokovic’s main opponent in Wimbledon.

The Serb had physically cracked the young Spaniard in the semi-finals on Parisian clay. At Wimbledon, they can only face each other in the final.
