Third consecutive night of riots since the death of Nahel Tuesday, June 27 in Nanterre, following a fatal shot by a police officer during a refusal to comply. This shooting has plunged France into chaos for three days, further widening the already deep gap between the police and young people in the neighborhoods.
Many personalities took the floor to demand “justice for Nahel”including Kylian Mbappé, Nabilla, Rayane Bensetti and Camille Lellouche. Emma Smet, the granddaughter of Johnny Hallyday, also expressed her opinion on this tragic event this Friday, June 30. Although she did not speak directly, she shared a video of Colouche dating from 1980, which testifies to his deep thought.

Emma Smet shares the thought of Coluche
The daughter of David Hallyday and Estelle Lefébure has since deleted this archive video, recorded in March 1980, where the comedian who died on June 19, 1986 was invited to the television newsAntenna 2 to discuss the increasingly frequent police violence since the beginning of the year. “I too have claims to make, precisely about the police, you see? And that really interests me, because there has been one death or injury per day caused by the police since January 1st” ( it shows a sheet filled with names from bottom to top: editor’s note)”he explains in the preamble to Patrick Lecocq.
Subsequently, Coluche draws up a balance sheet: “You see, on January 7 one died, on January 9 two dead and one wounded. Again on January 9, one was beaten, “only” … Oh, it was an Arab, notice, we can still laugh. On the 10th, a policeman arrested for rape. On the 13th, a death, a policeman who fired but it was “ricochet and absenteeism”, you know.” Patrick Lecocq then interrupts him: “Perhaps those who died weren’t all nice boys either? Maybe they were armed too, right?.
Coluche deplores and denounces police violence
This does not destabilize Coluche. Indeed, the man behind the Restos of the Heart goes on to acknowledge that the police did not“an easy role”. He simply asks that at the end of the year,“there are fewer deaths on the side of the assassins than on the side of the police”. “Explain to me why the police shoot Arabs in the back with a revolver and each time they fall?”he adds ironically.
“The problem is that there are no reasons, that’s the problem”deplores the man invited in Thierry Ardisson’s “Hôtel du Temps”, before concluding with humor but also a lot of sarcasm: “Finally, there is one, yes … it is that the police believe they are extremely covered […] I think the police should be better recruited, because there are really lots, huh”.
