A 24-year-old foreign student has finally been charged with the hateful stabbing of a professor and two students during a gender diversity class at the University of Waterloo on Wednesday.
A university student himself, Geovanny Villalba-Aleman was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, four counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief under $5,000, according to the Waterloo Regional Police.
This would be a hate-motivated attack related to gender expression and gender identity. The young man landed around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, in the middle of a course on gender diversity given in front of around forty students.
He then assaulted the teacher – a 38-year-old woman – a 20-year-old student and a 19-year-old pupil. While they all suffered serious injuries, their lives would not be in danger, according to the police.
