A restaurant in Old Montreal targeted by arson

A restaurant in Old Montreal was damaged by an arson attack late Thursday night.

According to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), there was no one in the establishment when the fire was started, around 4:20 a.m., and no one was injured.

The restaurant is located on rue Saint-Jacques, near the intersection of boulevard Saint-Laurent.

Firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) noticed that a window in the building had been broken and a Molotov cocktail had been thrown inside the restaurant.

Fire and water damage was contained within the building.

Due to the criminal origin of the incident, the investigation was entrusted to the SPVM arson squad, which was to send investigators to the scene later in the day.
