The parquet floors of Basse-Terre and Pointe-à-Pitre announced, Wednesday, June 28, the opening of two judicial inquiries for five accidents caused by defective airbags and which caused injuries and deaths in Guadeloupe. The oldest “goes back to 2018”according to the Pointe-à-Pitre prosecutor.
Judicial information will be opened for “involuntary homicides and injuries” and “involuntary injuries with ITT less and more than 3 months depending on the case, committed by inattention, negligence or breach of a security obligation committed by a person or by a legal person” .
Driver killed by ‘projectile’

The Basse-Terre prosecutor’s office was seized in May of the death of a 44-year-old mother. The driver was killed by “a projectile from an (…) airbag which hit the part of the head”, according to the prosecutor. Six other accidents will be the subject of additional investigations by the Pointe-à-Pitre prosecutor’s office, and could be attached to the procedure “to the extent that”.
