Honorary Oscars for Mel Brooks and Angela Bassett

(Los Angeles) American director and comedian Mel Brooks, who turns 97 this week, will be awarded an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement, along with other stars such as actress Angela Bassett, has announced the Hollywood Academy on Monday.


His famous musical The Producers (1967), in which he ridicules Hitler, had already won the Oscar for best original screenplay.

Master of Hollywood comic cinema by cultivating bad taste in particular – Frankenstein and Louis XVI have been there – he is one of the few to have won each of the greatest awards in American entertainment: Oscar (cinema), Emmy (television) , Tony (theater) and Grammy (music).

He will receive his statuette at a ceremony on November 18, alongside actress Angela Bassett.

Known for her incarnation of Tina Turner in the eponymous biopic released in 1993, the 64-year-old American actress has been nominated twice for the Oscars, including this year for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda forever.

Eclectic, the actress has also played in action films like Olympus Has Fallen And Mission: Impossible – Falloutthe horror series American Horror Story and even lent her voice to Michelle Obama in The simpsons.

The Honorary Oscars are awarded each year at a separate ceremony.
