Toyota’s performance division, Gazoo Racing (GR), is certainly busy these days. Seeking to capitalize on the momentum provided by its three models, it is making some changes to both mark key anniversaries as well as improve their performance for the 2024 model year.
The one that sits at the top of this sports range, the GR Supra, wins a special edition 45e anniversary, the print run of which will be limited in Canada to only 45 copies. It is recognizable by its plasma orange as well as its manually adjustable glossy black rear spoiler. Mechanically, it still uses the BMW-original 382-hp 3.0-liter turbo inline-six that can only be mated to a (six-speed) manual transmission in its case.
The GR Corolla gets slight modifications to its chassis with the use of new bolts as well as redesigned front air ducts. A new color makes its debut (flame blue) to embellish this sporty all-wheel-drive compact equipped with a 300-hp 1.6L three-cylinder turbo bolted to a six-speed manual transmission.
Finally, the GR 86, this rear-wheel-drive sports car powered by a 2.4 L (228 hp) flat four-cylinder, commemorates the 40e anniversary of its ancestor, the Corolla AE86, with a Trueno edition of which only 50 copies will be produced with a manual gearbox. Different dressing, Sachs shock absorbers and Brembo braking system are on the menu of a very entertaining vehicle.
Toyota has not yet revealed the price ranges of these models.
