A man was fatally stabbed on the night of Friday June 23 to Saturday June 24, in Viviers, south of Montélimar (Ardèche), reports France Bleu Drôme Ardèche. The victim, aged 58, was killed with fourteen stab wounds, notably on the chest, said the public prosecutor of Privas in a press release.
A dispute over noise pollution
The facts took place around midnight, “on the occasion of the music festival”. While the customers of a restaurant were seated on the terrace, a man who lives above the establishment, visibly “overwhelmed by the noise” projected on them “liquid that had a strong smell of bleach”. One of the customers then went up to see the inhabitant. A violent altercation ensued. The client was stabbed fourteen times. “The first findings establish that the injured had tried to flee”, says the prosecution. He was found “in the stairs” by the paramedics who failed to revive him.
A 24-year-old woman was slightly injured after being stabbed. Supported by the SMUR, she was hospitalized but her vital prognosis is not engaged, according to the prosecution. The suspect, “known to justice”, was arrested and taken into custody at 2:25 a.m. The public prosecutor adds that “the criminal identification cell of the Ardèche gendarmerie group, the research brigade of the Teil gendarmerie company have been engaged and are continuing their investigations”.
