The “C Politique” teams were able to spend time with the caregivers of this Haut-Rhin hospital, fighting but always more tired, faced with the influx of unvaccinated patients.
The fatigue is palpable. At Colmar hospital (Haut-Rhin), where the white plan was launched on December 1, the fifth wave swept over exhausted caregivers. In a report broadcast on December 12 in the program “C Politique”, they do not hide their dismay at the influx of unvaccinated patients.
One of them, aged 70, “has been positive since December 1”, explains a caregiver in a meeting. “He was intubated last night”, he said, adding that his 62-year-old wife, also unvaccinated, had died the week before. In the service, there is also a “young Covid patient of 37 years, unvaccinated, with a very agitated awakening and who extubated all alone in the afternoon”, adds the caregiver in front of his colleagues.
Another 41-year-old man, also unvaccinated, is in very critical condition. “He’s been here for a few days already and he’s not improving”, notes a nurse. “If he had been vaccinated, it would have been less serious, I am very upset”.
