For the second time in less than a month, residents of Lebel-sur-Quévillon have been ordered to evacuate as a forest fire crosses Route 113 North, one of only two access roads to the municipality.
The mayor of the municipality, Guy Lafrenière, made the announcement late Thursday afternoon. “The City of Val-d’Or will accommodate the evacuees on the recommendation of civil health,” he said.

Wildfire 256, which is forcing this new evacuation, started on 1er last June. It now obstructs Route 113 North, which connects the municipality to the towns of Chapais and Chibougameau, in Nord-du-Québec.
