The tourist submarine missing since Sunday June 18 in the North Atlantic has still not been found. He had left for an expedition to the wreck of the “Titanic”. Present on the 8 Hours set on Wednesday, journalist Anicet Mbida explains that, “technically”it is not a submarine but a “submersible”. “That is to say a machine which is able to go underwater, but which always works in conjunction with another machine on the surface. And the concern is that this one is not planned only to survive underwater for 96 hours. There are only four days of oxygen”reports the journalist.

A machine that “is not autonomous”

“There are safety systems which are put in place automatically, in the event of damage, so that either it rises to the surface, or it falls to the bottom of the water. But the problem is that it is not autonomous.Even if it rises to the surface on its own, it must be possible to open it from the outside. Even on the surface, there is this problem of racing against the clock”explains Anicet Mbida.
