The SPVM seizes 38 kg of cocaine in Quebec and Ontario

The Montreal Police Service (SPVM) seized 38 kg of cocaine on Tuesday, with an estimated value of nearly $1.1 million.

Law enforcement also seized 9 kg of methamphetamine, 5 kg of purple fentanyl, 28,000 speed tablets and various products containing THC. Investigators also discovered $1 million in cash.

Two suspects were arrested in connection with this case, a 33-year-old Montrealer and a 38-year-old Ontario man. They will appear on Wednesday to answer several narcotics-related charges. Both individuals will remain in custody.

These arrests are part of an investigation that was launched last March into a criminal organization involved in the trafficking of cocaine and other illicit substances between the Toronto area and Montreal.

The searches were carried out in Milton, Ontario, as well as in the L’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève neighborhood in Montreal. The police investigation revealed that the Toronto area was used as a supply point and that the drugs then made their way to Montreal.

The investigation and the arrests were led by the Anti-Gang Unit of the SPVM’s Organized Crime Division, in collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police.

Since the beginning of the year, investigators from the Antigang unit have seized tens of kilograms of cocaine arriving mainly from the Toronto area.
