The gardens of the national domain of the Palais-Royal and its famous Buren columns host a half-day of activities with free access. After 7 p.m., time for the concerts of European Chamber Music Center (classical music), Eesah Yasuke (rap) and Mentissa (French song), all redesigned for hearing-impaired audiences.

The Olympia stage is always worth a visit during the Music Festival. For this 2023 edition, we find on the poster the rappers Lomepal and Dinos, but also Zaho De Sagazan and Jain as well as the British artist Arlo Parks. The event is free, with free access within the limit of available places.

Everybody dance now! Bob Sinclar warms up the turntables in the open air, at 211, in the Parc de la Villette. The DJ of the French Touch will be accompanied by Funky French League to make you dance, from 6 p.m. until the end of the night. Entrance fee from midnight, reserved for over 18s.

Children also have the right to their party, worthy of Ibiza! At the Jardin d’Acclimatation, the party is orchestrated by DJ Martin Solveig, with a special program for young audiences. Meet from 2:30 p.m., outdoors, on the lawn of the Grand Miroir Vert.

In Marseille: turntables on Borély beach, Helmut Fritz and PZK form a nostalgic duo

Music and beach, it’s the perfect cocktail to start the summer off right. Borély beach in Marseille hosts the traditional Fun Radio concert. The free event, upon reservation, will feature mixes from Aluna, Boris Way, Rivo, Sam Feldt, Sigala and the duo Trinix.

For those nostalgic for the 2000s, this is the event not to be missed. The rooftop of R2 organizes the meeting of two icons of the beginning of the century: Helmut Fritz (It annoys me) and the PZK group (Girls love it, I’M GOOD LOOKING). An evening that will make you relive the greatest hits of this tender era, from Britney Spears to Eminem via the Black Eyed Peas.

In another register, the philharmonic orchestra invites you to the Opéra de Marseille, and will perform works by Jean Sibelius, Maurice Ravel and Bedřich Smetana.

In Lyon: jazz at the Beaux-Arts and children’s party

In the capital of Gaul, nine official stages are planned, one per district. The Presqu’île will be entertained by several batucada groups (a traditional Brazilian percussion ensemble) that will criss-cross rue de la République, from Bellecour to Childebert.

Jazz atmosphere at the Museum of Fine Arts. From 12 p.m. until 7.30 p.m., head to the terrace of the café-restaurant to refresh yourself with a few notes of swing with the Ellesmusiciennes duo, the Hot club jazz group Lyon and VIZZAJ. This animation echoes the exhibition on the painter Robert Guinan, “friend of jazzmen and follower of night clubs in Chicago“, presents the museum. Access to the museum will be free all day.

The Music Festival is for all ages. At the Marché Gare, a special children’s Music Festival is organized with a concert-show, a ball and entertainment from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

In Toulouse: electronic rhythms at Place de l’Europe, early music at the Chapelle des Carmélites

It’s a group that was born in 2013, a day of Music Day. From 6 p.m., the techno collective Plein Phare will electrify Place de l’Europe. The Toulouse group will thus be celebrating its 10th anniversary with great fanfare. The party will continue from 1am with an “after” at the Rex in Toulouse.

In the setting of the Chapelle des Carmélites, carte blanche will be given to the Compagnie Eranos with a “rich, varied program that crosses eras and ancient styles“. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., free entry.

In Nice: push the song and pedal to the music

Prepare your vocal cords. Parc du Ray is an opportunity to push the song with the giant karaoke “Nice Chante l’Europe!”. “On the program: general culture quizzes on the European Union, French and European hits broadcast on a giant screen, an animation troupe, goodies to be won, all in a relaxed atmosphere!“, presents the city.

More original: why not combine music and cycling? This is what the Nice à Vélo association offers, by organizing its “SJ Set on the bike”. The concept ? A bike ride accompanied by a DJ (also on two wheels). Meet at 6 p.m. with departure from Place de la Gare du Sud.

In Nantes: “fest-noz” and film music

Brittany is rich in festive, musical and dance traditions. In Nantes (where Breton culture remains very present), the Breton Cultural Agency organizes its traditional “fest-noz”. A “night party” in Breton, a festive gathering listed as an intangible heritage by Unesco. The evening is hosted by the Bagad de Nantes, a Breton music ensemble, and students from the Nantes Conservatory in the traditional music section. Meeting from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., esplanade Jacques Demy.

Music is also cinema. The musicians of the Nantes Conservatory pay homage to the 7th art with a cover of the most beautiful soundtracks. An event organized by Les Scènes vagabondes at the Maison de quartier de la Bottière, at 3 p.m.
