Villeray | Three injured in assault, one suspect arrested

A man in his 50s is in critical condition after being stabbed in the underground garage of an apartment building in the Villeray area of ​​Montreal. Two women were also injured in this event, where a suspect was arrested.




Police arrived around 10 a.m. Monday. They locate the three injured and one of the suspects upon their arrival. Several assailants participated in the attack, according to initial information.

One of the victims, a 51-year-old man, was taken to hospital for serious injuries, said agent Véronique Dubuc, media relations officer for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

It was at this location on rue Saint-André that the stabbed man was found.

The suspect in this armed attack which occurred in the garage of an apartment building is a man “about 30 years old”, indicated the publicist. He is currently being held and will be questioned by investigators later today. Two women in their 40s were badly beaten during the attack.

The motive for this violent attack is still unknown. A perimeter was erected on rue Saint-André, near rue Jean-Talon.
