What public policy for access to care?
Last week, the National Assembly adopted at first reading a bill, the Valletoux law, to fight against medical deserts. Several solutions are envisaged to improve access to care, but the law does not provide for the regulation of doctors’ facilities: the transpartisan amendment which went in this direction was rejected. The majority believe that forcing doctors to settle in “deserts” is a “false solution”.
How to explain that certain territories are completely devoid of doctors, including certain cities? What avenues are being considered? What solutions are already emerging from the field? Should the installation of doctors be regulated and if so, how?
