Gunshots were heard early Sunday morning in the borough of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie in Montreal. An investigation was opened and the police located casings on the ground as well as on the facade of a residence. No victim has been identified, nor a suspect.
A call was first made to 911 around 3:30 a.m. Sunday to report “heard detonations” near the intersection of rue de Bellechasse and 18e Ave.
Returned to the scene, the first patrol officers did not initially identify any casing or other piece of evidence. But a few hours later, around 5:40 a.m., a citizen again contacted the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) to report the presence of shell casings that he had identified on the ground.
These casings were indeed located by the police shortly afterwards. The police also identified bullet holes “on the facade of a residence”, explained agent Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the SPVM.
The police had found no victims or suspects in connection with this event at the start of the day on Sunday. A security perimeter was nevertheless erected. Investigators and forensic identification technicians were sent to the scene.
