After the Royal Palace or the Château de Chambord, TF1 had invested the arenas of Nîmes, this Saturday June 17, 2023, to elect “Song of the Year” among fourteen titles in competition: “Tonight” by Amir, “Exceeded” by Nuit Incolore, “Thousands of I love you” by Slimane, “Encore” by Kendji Girac and Florent Pagny, “In the stars” by Benson Boone and Philippine Lavrey, “Keep it simple” by Vianney and Mika, “La gofa lolita” by La petite culotte, “Mon coeur” by Izia, “Ne pars pas” by Keen’V, “Nous deux” by Ridsa, “Qu ‘import’ by Juliette Armanet, “Secret” by Louane, “If I had known” by Claudio Capéo and “One day, I will marry an angel” by Pierre de Maere.
And this year, unlike previous editions, the first channel had opened the votes on Tuesday, June 6 to allow fans to choose their song of the year…. Without waiting for the live! Fatal strategy error? On the audience side, TF1 was beaten soundly by rugby on France 2 and by “Murders in Blois” broadcast on France 3, as Jean-Marc Morandini explains on Twitter. “Prime audiences: New historic low for “The song of the year” on TF1 beaten by rugby on France 2 and by “Meurtres à Blois” on France 3”. The final of the Top 14 and the meeting Toulouse / La Rochelle has indeed attracted in front of their TVs some 3,245,000 spectators and the French detective series nearly 2,803,000 people. As for “Song of the Year”? Only 2,550,000 spectators (compared to 2,765,000 in 2022). This is the lowest audience ever recorded for this program.

Unsurprisingly… and four for Amir!
And, at the end of the evening, no big surprise either for the public… It was Amir’s song “Ce soir” that was elected. The singer had already won the trophy in 2022 with his song “Retina”. In total, this is the fourth time that he has won the title of “Song of the Year”! Nevertheless, this former candidate of The Voicereally moved the audience by declaring: “I would like to dedicate this trophy to my mother who left us a month and a half ago”. Another “in-house” artist, Anisha, the big winner of the star Academy was able to unveil on stage his very first single “Tu rayonnes”. A performance hailed unlike that of Gazo, admittedly rewarded for his hit “Die” which was the most streamed title in France this year (119 million listens!) but whose passage on stage made the teeth of many Internet users! In question ? A certain taste a little too pronounced for the use of autotune, this software which modifies the voice of the artist…
