“Stay Safe! », Security | The duty

La Sécurité lives up to our expectations on their crackling and addictive debut album, performed in English and French. The supergroup, made up of Laurence-Anne, Félix Bélisle (singer of Choses Sauvages, here on bass), Melissa Di Menna (keyboard, Jesuslesfilles), Kenny David Smith (drums) and lead vocals Éliane Viens -Synnott, put on eight post-punk/dance-punk nuggets, accompanied by two ballads (the touching K9 And Sleepy Rebellion in conclusion) temporarily lowering the tension. It starts with the slobber The Kickwhich borrows the guitar colors of the B-52’s, then picks up the tempo with Tell methe swirling Anyway and its epic guitar motif in the chorus, then the jerky Waiting for Kenny. There are still some just as good to discover, but here we are already conquered: this flair for nervous rhythms and melodies hits the bull’s eye. The diversity of guitar and synth tones and the interpretation, sometimes mischievous, sometimes affable, of Viens-Synnott result in an exploded and refreshing album.
