The fans of the first hour of “Fort Boyard” necessarily remember this essential character of the show: La Boule. From 1994 to 2013, this sailor stranded on the fort sounded the gong to mark the beginning and end of each quest. As jailer, the latter would then seek out the candidate prisoners in the tests to take them straight to the dungeon.
A character played by Yves Macheau for nearly 20 years… Thus, when he left for health reasons, the channel decided not to replace La Boule and it was Félindra, the tamer who has since sounded the gong with his whip while Mister-Boo takes care of leading the prisoners to the fort’s jails…
An unfortunately final departure for Yves Macheau since the man breathed his last a few months later following esophageal cancer on the night of September 28 to 29, 2014 at the age of 62. In an interview, he explained that “Fort Boyard was a revenge on life, because his “overweight” and his “baldness” allowed him to obtain this role, thus giving him more than 20 years of happiness”.

The Return of the Ball
Almost 10 years after the departure of La Boule, “Fort Boyard” is preparing to bring this character back to life… And it is the actor Emmanuel Dorand who will take up the torch for season 34 of the programme! A great return that fans of the adventure program are probably looking forward to!
La Boule makes its big comeback performed by @EmmanuelDorand ! We obviously have a thought for Yves Marchesseau who interpreted this role from 1994 to 2013 ⬇️ https://t.co/6z7W1eD8a1#FORT BOYARDpic.twitter.com/Rjp6ClA3DN
