Rosemont–La-Petite-Patrie | Body found with signs of abuse

The body of a man bearing signs of violence was found in an apartment on boulevard Saint-Michel on Monday evening, in the borough of Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie. The police are currently treating the case as a “suspicious death”.

It was around 7:30 p.m. that the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reported having been called to intervene near the intersection between boulevard Saint-Michel and rue Saint-Zotique.

Once there, the first patrol officers identified the body of a 33-year-old man “who would bear signs of violence,” said officer Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the Montreal police.

On the way from The Press, Monday evening, a vast security perimeter had been erected in order to let the authorities work and protect the crime scene. “The circumstances surrounding this death are unexplained at this time”, however warned Mme Dubuc.

At the end of the evening, no arrest had yet been made and no suspect had been identified by the Montreal police force.

Several investigators from the Major Crimes Section were sent to the scene in the evening, assisted by crime scene technicians and a command post. They will carry out an expertise of the scene and will be responsible for shedding light on this still nebulous event. Potential witnesses and members of the neighborhood will also be interviewed.
